A future-proof heating solution - the NEW Ecodan R290

From small flats to large detached houses, and from an office block to a school, Ecodan air source heat pumps are the renewable, low carbon alternative to traditional high carbon heating systems. This reliable, renewable heating technology delivers highly efficient sustainable space heating and hot water all year round.

The NEW Ecodan air source heat pump is setting new standards for performance and sustainability. This innovative model has a guaranteed operation range down to -25°C ambient temperature, while utilising the refrigerant properties of R290 to efficiently achieve high water temperatures up to 75°C and a low GWP (Global Warming Potential). Making the Ecodan R290 heat pump the perfect renewable alternative to conventional fossil fuel boilers.

How a typical Ecodan system works

There's an Ecodan for every home

Ecodan renewable heating systems are self-contained and versatile, only requiring electricity and water connections. They upgrade freely available heat energy from the air and transfer it to the home to provide hot water and heating for radiators and/or underfloor heating. The Ecodan outdoor unit provides your home with a continuous supply of hot water via a dedicated hot water cylinder. Our hybrid system option also allows it to work in tandem with your existing boiler.

The Outdoor Unit

Only requiring electricity and water connections, the outdoor unit is easy to install and can be situated discretely outside your home or in your garden. Ecodan upgrades freely available heat energy from the air and transfers it to your home to provide hot water and heating for radiators and/or underfloor heating.

The Hot Water Cylinder

Ecodan provides your home with a continuous supply of hot water via a dedicated hot water cylinder - just like a standard boiler. These cylinders are specifically designed to integrate with the outdoor unit, however in some cases it can also work with your existing hot water cylinder.

Energy Efficient Control

With Ecodan you have the choice of a range of controls including an advance wireless controller, which is a simple room controller with features including holiday mode. You can also download our web-enabled MELCloud controller app to any smart device which allows you to control your system and monitor its performance remotely.

Energy efficient system

A highly energy efficient system

Whether you live in a new-build or an existing home, an Ecodan air source heat pump can work on its own or in conjunction with an existing heating system. By eliminating the need for costly fossil fuels like gas and oil, it can help cut your energy bills, lower your carbon footprint and can make you eligible for the Boiler Ugrade Scheme

Government incentive schemes

Government incentive schemes

In addition to low running costs, Ecodan is recognised by Government as a renewable energy source because it harvests free energy from the air. This makes it eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme which could allow you to claim up to £7.5k for your air source heat pump installation.

Low noise levels

Award-winning low noise levels

Ecodan is not only highly efficient; it is also one of the quietest units available on the market. An Ecodan renewable heating system is discrete and whisper-quiet, offering flexibility in where you can choose to place it and making it perfect for almost any location.

FAQs

After seeing the many benefits that heat pumps can bring to your property, you may be wondering if there are any considerations that make these units more suitable to specific properties than others. Here are a few things you need to consider when deciding on if an air source heat pump is right for your home:
Outdoor space - with most units coming in at less than 1100mm in height and width and a depth of under 500mm, you don't need a huge amount of outdoor space to comfortably accommodate an air source heat pump.
Is Your Home Insulated? - We'd recommend that your home is fully insulated as a first port of call, then consider installing an air source heat pump to heat your home.
There are many advantages of air source heat pumps vs oil boilers, one of those being that they are more efficient. You can create more energy for your home from less, meaning you don't have to spend as much on your heating bills to keep warm.

In our video, we go into more depth about other advantages of choosing an air source heat pump, including the benefits to the environment.
Yes, heat pumps can heat your home in cold weather as long as the system is designed properly, like our Mitsubishi Electric air source heat pumps.
The Ecodan cylinder stores heated water from the air source heat pump. The heat exchanger keeps the stored water at a perfect temperature ready to use whenever you need it. It also manages the heating to your home keeping you cozy all year round.
